Motorcyclist dies in crash with parked forklift in Ratchaburi
A tragic accident occurred when a man riding a motorcycle collided with a parked forklift, resulting in his death. His wife and seven year old daughter sustained injuries. The forklift’s owner had not placed warning signs on the road.
Police officer Theerawat Athornsirirat from Mueang Ratchaburi Police Station received a report of a motorcycle collision with a forklift, resulting in fatalities and injuries. The incident took place on a road in Moo 6, Chedi Hak village, Mueang district, Ratchaburi province. Medical personnel from Ratchaburi Hospital and rescue workers from Prachanukul Ratchaburi Foundation were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the police discovered the body of a 56 year old man with severe facial injuries. Nearby lay a blue-and-black Yamaha motorcycle, registration number 1 กส 2167 Ratchaburi, overturned with scattered charcoal bags and other items.
The forklift, which caused the accident, had its prongs extended into the road. The injured parties, a 49 year old woman and her seven year old daughter had already been transported to the hospital for treatment.
Panadda Chuenkrob, a 55 year old member of the Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (SAO) of Chedi Hak, provided information during the investigation. She stated that the forklift, belonging to a local factory, had broken down and been parked at the scene since the morning, awaiting assistance.
The forklift’s owner had placed warning signs to prevent accidents. The deceased man, accompanied by his wife and daughter, had gone out to purchase charcoal. The child sat in the middle while the wife sat at the back.
Upon reaching the scene, they collided with the forklift’s prongs, causing the motorcycle to lose control. The man’s face struck the other prong, leading to his death, reported KhaoSod.
Police have sent the body to the hospital and are expediting the investigation according to legal procedures. They have summoned the forklift driver and eyewitnesses for further questioning to determine the exact cause of the accident.
