Couple killed in Phatthalung collision returning from flood relief
A tragic accident occurred yesterday in Phatthalung province, when a couple, returning from filing for flood relief funds, were killed in a collision with a truck.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Arkhom Panjan, deputy inspector of Pak Phayun District Police Station, yesterday, January 6, received a report of a fatal accident involving a truck and a motorcycle at the Ban Kai intersection, Moo 1, Pak Phayun subdistrict.
Officials, including rescue teams from Phatthalung Charity Foundation and a doctor from Pak Phayun Hospital, were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, a black Honda Wave motorcycle with the registration number 882 Songkhla was found overturned. Nearby lay the bodies of 73 year old Uthon and his 65 year old wife, Hian.
The couple were pronounced dead at the scene. An 18-wheel white truck with the registration number 72-2192 Songkhla, which was involved in the accident, was parked nearby.
Investigations revealed that before the accident, Uthon and his wife had ridden their motorcycle from their home to submit documents for flood disaster relief funds at the Pak Phayun district office.
On their way back to their home in Moo 6, Pak Phayun subdistrict, they were struck by the truck, driven by 43 year old Paisan. The impact was severe, resulting in the couple’s immediate death, reported KhaoSod.
Following the incident, the police detained Paisan to proceed with legal action.
In related news, a 50 year old hotel employee riding a motorcycle in the wrong direction was fatally struck by a pickup truck. The incident took place on January 3, on the outbound Asian Highway near kilometre marker 33 in Bang Pahan district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province.
Piyapong Sirijanyatham, a police officer from Bang Pahan Police Station, received the report of the collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck. He coordinated with the Phutthaisawan Foundation to provide assistance at the scene.
