Police seize 3 million meth pills, arrest two in drug bust
Narcotics Suppression Bureau police officers seized 3 million methamphetamine pills and apprehended two people accused of drug trafficking in Nakhon Pathom.
The people arrested were identified as 32 year old Katakorn and 27 year old Supattra. They were detained yesterday evening. January 19, during a police raid at a house in the Mueang Nakhon Pathom district. Police discovered seven fertiliser bags filled with the Yaba pills at the scene.
In addition, a pickup truck and three mobile phones were confiscated from the suspects.
The chief of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, Police Lieutenant General Santi Chainiramai, stated that this operation was initiated after a previous raid in Ayutthaya on November 9, where five million methamphetamine pills were seized and two men were arrested. The ensuing investigation revealed a drug network operating in Nakhon Pathom, involved in smuggling methamphetamine into Thailand via the northeastern border.
Police investigators received information on January 18 about a large shipment of methamphetamine pills entering Nakhon Pathom, which resulted in the arrest of Katakorn and Supattra.
According to Police Lieutenant General Santi, the pair had conducted multiple drug deliveries, earning between 50,000 and 100,000 baht (US$1,453 to 2,907) per trip. They retrieved the drugs in Saraburi province, stored them in Nakhon Pathom, and subsequently distributed them to nearby provinces, reported Bangkok Post.
Further investigations are underway to uncover the individuals who employed Katakorn and Supattra for the drug deliveries.
