Clinic con: Unlicensed medics in Chon Buri busted with fake docs
Police raided a prominent clinic in Bang Sare, Chon Buri, arresting three individuals for operating without a license and using a fake medical certificate. The suspects have confessed to various charges.
Yesterday, September 26, police and public health officials conducted a raid at 5.30pm at a medical clinic in Bang Sare, Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri. Reports had been received that the clinic was operating without the necessary licenses.
During the raid, three individuals were arrested. Patinya, the 53 year old clinic owner, was responsible for dispensing medication and collecting medical fees. Chayaporn, the 60 year old clinic’s doctor, was found to be using a fake medical license and was not legally authorised to practice. Methinee, a 30 year old woman, handled patient history and blood pressure measurements.
Chayaporn confessed to diagnosing and treating patients without a valid medical licence and using fake documents to pose as a doctor. She also admitted to issuing false medical certificates. Patinya, the clinic owner, acknowledged her role in operating the clinic and dispensing medication to patients.
Public health officials in Chon Buri confiscated 16 types of medication and medical equipment found within the clinic to support the ongoing investigation.
The suspects face multiple charges under Thai law. They are accused of jointly operating a medical facility without permission in violation of the Medical Facilities Act, BE 2541, Sections 16 and 24, and jointly selling modern pharmaceuticals without permission under the Drug Act, BE 2510, Section 12.
Additionally, Chayaporn faces charges of forgery and using forged documents (medical certificates) under Section 264 of the Criminal Code, reported KhaoSod.
Following the arrests, the suspects were taken to Sattahip Police Station for processing and to face legal proceedings according to the laws of Thailand.
In related news, a 55 year old former navy officer has been apprehended in Bangkok for practicing medicine without a valid licence for the past two decades.
