Brother fatally shot after knife attack attempt in Phayao

A man was fatally shot in the head by his brother following a knife attack attempt. The incident occurred yesterday, April 23, at 10.30am in Mueang Phayao district, where the older brother awaited police to surrender after the shooting.
Police Colonel Wirote Krokamp, deputy inspector at Chun Police Station, received a report from Huai Yang Kham subdistrict patrol about a shooting at a residence in Moo 7, Huai Yang Kham subdistrict.
Upon arrival, emergency services found Phattharasorn, who had been shot in the head, with his brother, Wutthichai, waiting to surrender and admitting to the shooting. Wutthichai led the police to the storage room behind the house to retrieve the firearm used in the incident.
Later, Jun Hospital informed the police that Phattharasorn had succumbed to his injuries. The investigating officers, working with a doctor from Jun Hospital, conducted a post-mortem examination to facilitate further legal proceedings.
Initial inquiries revealed that the deceased, Phattharasorn, was the younger brother of the gunman. Before the incident, Phattharasorn had exhibited erratic behaviour and attempted to stab his brother with a knife.
In self-defence, Wutthichai retaliated by shooting, resulting in Phattharasorn’s death. Wutthichai then remained at the scene to surrender to the police, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, a man was shot and killed following an argument with his tattoo artist around 9pm on April 19.
The shooting took place on a road in the Mueang Samut Sakhon district of Samut Sakhon province. After the incident, the suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle.
Police Lieutenant Samart Tingwang, the deputy inspector at Mueang Samut Sakhon Police Station, received the alert and quickly coordinated with forensic teams and emergency medical responders. Senior officers, including Police Major General Teeradej Athipakkul, were assigned to lead the investigation at the scene.
