Teen knifed five in Turkish mosque attack, livestreamed on X

Teenager livestreams Eskisehir mosque attack, injures five, restrained by police

A teenager armed with a knife livestreamed a violent attack outside a mosque in Turkey, injuring at least five people in Eskisehir yesterday.

The 18-year-old, wearing a skeletal mask, helmet, and what appeared to be a bulletproof vest, attacked multiple individuals at the Tepebaşı mosque’s tea garden. He broadcast the assault on the platform X.

During the over two-minute graphic video, the suspect remained silent. Only his heavy breathing was audible as he ran through a park, a train station, and along streets, indiscriminately slashing at passersby.

Police tackled the suspect to the ground and restrained him. Images captured him on his back with officers standing over him.

Eyewitnesses described the attacker as looking like a video game character. He had an axe at his waist and wore a bulletproof vest, helmet, and mask, according to Eskisehir Durum. Photos showed he also wore goggles, fully concealing his face.

Several news outlets reported that he had a ‘black sun’ symbol, associated with Nazism, on his chest.

The suspect did not shout or provide any explanation for his actions. The daily Cumhuriyet suggested he was influenced by war games.
