A terrifying encounter was experienced by an anonymous couple who had checked into an ageing three-star hotel in Plzeň, the capital of the Pilsen Region in the Czech Republic. The couple was shocked to discover several hundred bats sharing their room when they woke up.

The couple explained that due to the warm weather on the night of their stay, they had left the window and the door to the hallway open.

To their horror, they woke up the following morning to find a swarm of bats that had taken up residence in their room.

The creatures were everywhere, from the ceiling to the walls, and even the window curtains. The number of bats was not merely in the tens but had reached into the hundreds.

Both shocked and unnerved, the couple quickly grabbed their phones to document the eerie sight of the black bats covering every nook and cranny of their room.

They then rushed to report the incident to the hotel reception. The staff went up to inspect the room and later informed the couple that the hotel was not at fault, but rather the guests who did not heed the advice to keep the windows closed.

Even the hotel staff were unable to handle the bat infestation so they contacted an animal rescue centre for assistance. Shortly after, a man named Radek Zemen, without any protective gear, armed merely with a racquet, arrived to capture them. His presence was enough to frighten the bats into flight.

According to the report, the officer captured 256 bats and found 11 dead ones. These were Soprano Bats, a small species of brown bat from the mosquito bat genus, one of the smallest species residing in the Czech Republic. They are insectivores and are usually found in public parks and insulated-roof houses.
