Woman dies in Kathu crash after car crosses median

A tragic accident occurred in Kathu in the early hours of yesterday morning, resulting in the death of a woman after her car crossed a road median and crashed into an oncoming pickup truck.

Police were notified of the accident at 1.46am, yesterday, April 7, with Police Lieutenant Colonel Somchai Nubun from Kathu Police Station responding alongside rescue personnel from the Kusoldharm Foundation Phuket.

Upon arrival at Phra Phuket Kaew Road in Moo 1, Kathu, police found a white Toyota Yaris sedan with extensive damage to its front.

The driver, identified as 30 year old Panisa Srisuk from Singburi, was discovered unconscious and critically injured inside the vehicle. Despite having a pulse, she was transported to Bangkok Hospital Siriroj, where she was later declared dead.

Nearby, a white Chevrolet pickup truck with Phuket licence plates was found, driven by Anont Sathan, who was accompanied by his wife. Both sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for medical care.

Witnesses informed police that Panisaโ€™s car was heading from Kathu towards the Samkong Intersection when it lost control on a curve near Andaman Water Park. The vehicle crossed the median and collided head-on with a pickup truck travelling in the opposite direction.

Police recorded the scene and are investigating the cause of the accident before moving forward with any legal proceedings, reported Phuket News.

In similar news, a factory worker shuttle bus lost control and plunged into a roadside ditch in Ayutthaya, resulting in multiple serious injuries among passengers.

Police Lieutenant Thanapat Phongsatit of the Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station received the emergency call at 8.20am yesterday, April 7.

The incident occurred on the outbound Asia Highway at kilometre marker 21 in Hantra subdistrict. Emergency responders from the Ayutthaya Ruamjai Association were quickly dispatched to provide aid to the injured.
