Police are investigating the mysterious death of a 59 year old Thai man whose lifeless body was discovered in a Phuket resort room last night, February 12. The cause of death remains unknown, with no immediate signs of foul play.

The police were alerted at around 9.30pm and arrived at the Kamala resort with a medical examiner from Vachira Phuket Hospital. The deceased, identified as Somsak Thongthong, a security guard from Bangkok’s Bang Khen area, was found lying motionless on the bed, shirtless and wearing navy blue shorts. Initial examinations revealed no wounds, signs of struggle, or forced entry.

The discovery was made by a resort security guard, who last saw Somsak at 6.30pm before being asked to buy food for him. When the guard returned at 7pm, there was no response at the door, so he assumed the guest had stepped out.

Concerned by the continued silence, he returned at 8pm and, after knocking repeatedly with no answer, climbed onto the balcony to peer inside. Spotting the motionless figure on the bed, he entered the room and confirmed Somsak was unresponsive before alerting the police.

Medical officials estimate Somsak had been dead for less than four hours before their arrival. As the initial examination could not determine the cause of death, his body was sent to Vachira Phuket Hospital for a full post-mortem, reported The Phuket News.

Kamala Police Chief Pol Col Somsak Thongkliang confirmed investigations are ongoing, with officers awaiting medical results to determine if foul play was involved.
