Honda Jazz overturns and catches fire in Nong Khai

A white Honda Jazz collided with a barrier, flipped, and caught fire this morning in Mueang district, Nong Khai province.

The 48 year old driver, Preecha, returning from dinner with his mother, stated he could not recall the accident’s details.

Police Lieutenant Sittisart Moolmanat of Mueang Nong Khai Police Station received reports of the incident on Sadej Road leading to the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge today, February 13 at 2.30am.

Emergency services, including Chaba 191 Nong Khai Rescue, VR Rescue Nong Khai, and the municipal fire department, were dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze that had engulfed the vehicle completely. Preecha, standing nearby, was able to provide a statement to the police.

Preecha recounted heading home to Wiang Khuk subdistrict after dining with his mother. He mentioned that upon reaching the accident site, he felt as if something suddenly appeared in front of him, causing him to lose control and crash into the concrete barrier, which led to the car overturning, reported KhaoSod.

He further explained that a passing motorcyclist witnessed the accident, stopped to assist him from the overturned vehicle before it ignited, and then alerted emergency services for further help.

Last year, a dramatic car accident unfolded in Bangkok as a Honda Civic hurtled across a road divider, crashing into a utility pole and bursting into flames. The incident, which occurred on November 19 last year, saw a young man and woman narrowly escaping the blazing vehicle.

Police Lieutenant Investigator Sangansak Chiamsanguanwong from Bueng Kum Police Station received a report of a car fire opposite the Chocolate Ville restaurant on Prasert-Manukitch Road in the Ram Inthra district at 2.48am on November 19 last year.

Firefighters and rescue teams from Bang Chan rushed to the scene to find the Honda Civic engulfed in flames after crashing into the pole. It took them around 20 minutes to extinguish the fire, but not before the vehicle was destroyed, said an eyewitness.
