Phuket teen injured after hand stuck in meat grinder

A 15 year old boy in Phuket suffered severe injuries to his right hand after an accident where he got his hand stuck in a meat grinder at a butcher’s shop in Ratsada on Friday afternoon, April 18. Emergency personnel responded swiftly to the scene.
Rescue workers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation, along with an advanced EMS unit from Vachira Phuket Hospital, were dispatched to the shop located in Soi Siang Tai, near Mission Hospital Phuket, following an urgent call about the incident.
Upon arrival, they found Barokat Intharat, a resident of Koh Kaew, with his right hand trapped in the industrial meat grinder. Despite being in obvious distress, he remained conscious. The rescue team spent nearly an hour using specialised cutting and prying tools to carefully dismantle the machinery and free his hand.
After administering first aid at the location, Barokat was transported to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further medical attention.
Witnesses reported that the accident occurred while Barokat was operating the grinder. His hand slipped into the machine, prompting a co-worker to quickly turn it off before contacting emergency services.
Officers are currently investigating how Barokat’s hand became caught in the grinder, reported Phuket News.
