Phuket man injures neck with knife after forgetting to take his pills

In Kathu district, Phuket, a 41 year old man was hospitalised after inflicting a knife wound upon himself at his residence yesterday, April 28. Police were alerted by a relative about his erratic behaviour, prompting a response from officers.
Upon arrival at the house on Soi Irrawaddy 6/3 around 10.15am, officers from Kathu Police Station discovered the man on a long chair with a self-inflicted neck wound. Officers engaged him in conversation to keep him calm while rescue workers were summoned to address his injury.
The wound was reported as shallow. Emergency responders successfully stopped the bleeding, administered medication, and transported him to Patong Hospital for further care.
Investigations revealed that the man had neglected his prescribed medication and consumed alcohol the previous night, resulting in insomnia.
Police indicated that he had a history of mental health issues, previously associated with drug use, reported The Phuket News.

The man is currently in protective custody, and the case is managed by Kathu Police Station, under the leadership of Kathu Police Chief Police Colonel Pratuang Phonmana.
