Newborn abandoned in pickup truck in Phuket, rescued

A chilling discovery in Phuket has left locals shaken after a newborn baby was found abandoned in the back of a pickup truck. The infant, still with the umbilical cord attached, was miraculously alive and is now in hospital receiving care.

Today, April 9 at 10.30am, Police Lieutenant Colonel Khajornkiat Khamwichairat, Deputy Inspector of Investigation at Cherng Talay Police Station, was alerted to a distressing incident.

A newborn male baby, wrapped in a pink towel and with his umbilical cord still attached, was found abandoned in the back of a bronze Isuzu D-Max pickup truck, which was parked in Soi Bang Tao 12, Village 2, Cherng Talay subdistrict, Thalang district, Phuket.

Police Colonel Ekkarat Phlaiduang, Superintendent of Cherng Talay Police Station, was immediately notified and rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, it was confirmed that rescue workers from the Cherng Talay subdistrict Administrative Organisation had already transported the baby to Thalang Hospital. The infant was later transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further medical attention.

The discovery was made by a local man on his way to work, who noticed the baby in the back of the parked truck. He immediately alerted the police after confirming the baby was still alive. The baby’s condition was stable when he was found, but investigations into the incident are ongoing.
