Phuket Town, a bustling locale in Thailand, is now the site of an exciting initiative to provide free healthcare services for pets. The service, brought to the community by a mobile clinic, is extending an open invitation to residents to bring their beloved cats and dogs, as well as local strays, for comprehensive medical care.

This free pet healthcare initiative is the result of a collaboration between the livestock department of Phuket Municipality and the Soi Dog Foundation. The mobile service provides free sterilisation and rabies vaccinations for cats and dogs. It is an inclusive initiative, reaching out to all residents of Phuket Town and the neighbouring areas of Talat Nuea and Talat Yai.

Operating from the Solid Waste and Sewage Management Group premises in Phuket Town, the mobile clinic is accessible from Wednesday to Sunday, from 9am to 4pm. It will continue to serve the community until December 2. However, the clinic does not operate on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Since its inception on November 1, the clinic has experienced a steady stream of pet owners and caregivers, bringing in animals for the essential services provided. It has been a welcome addition to the community, as organisers confirmed on Friday, November 10.

Central to the operations of the Soi Dog Foundation is the sterilisation of stray animals. Their CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) program forms a significant part of their strategy. This approach is widely acknowledged as the most compassionate and effective method of controlling the population of stray animals and curbing the spread of diseases, such as rabies.

The Soi Dog Foundation’s impact extends beyond the borders of Phuket Town. They neuter and vaccinate over 20,000 animals monthly and have recently celebrated a significant milestone – their millionth animal, aptly named Million, to pass through their large-scale spay/neuter and vaccination programme since the foundation’s establishment in 2003, reported Phuket News.
