Woman crashes Ford Ranger into minivan while drunk in Pattaya
A heavily intoxicated 29 year old woman caused a dramatic scene by driving her shiny new Ford Ranger straight into an Alphard minivan, resulting in significant damage. The incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning, with the driver admitting to having had a few too many drinks.
At 1.26am today, October 9, Police Lieutenant Amorntep Phetthim of Pattaya City Police Station received frantic reports of multiple vehicle collisions on Pattaya-Naklua Road, near Soi 18 in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri province. Officers, alongside rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, sped to the scene to assess the chaos.
The collision involved a Toyota Alphard with Bangkok registration plates, which sustained severe damage to its left side. A nearby Toyota minivan from Rayong had frontal damage, while an orange Ford Ranger pickup with Bangkok plates had its right rear wheel completely detached from the vehicle, scattering parts across the road.
The driver of the Ford Ranger, 29 year old Ploysuay, was found in a heavily intoxicated state. She admitted to consuming alcohol and was detained by bystanders until police arrived.
Her black Ford Ranger, bearing red temporary Rayong plates, had veered onto the pavement, with its front wheel detached and rolling into the street, leaving the front of the vehicle severely damaged.
Apichart, the 59 year old owner of the Toyota Alphard, recounted that he was driving towards the Dolphin Roundabout in North Pattaya when he noticed the Ford Ranger speeding and swerving into his lane before crashing head-on.
He had no opportunity to avoid the collision. The Ford Ranger then lost control and crashed into parked cars and oncoming traffic, causing damage to multiple vehicles, said Apichart.
“After the incident, Good Samaritans helped restrain the driver and notified the police.”
Lieutenant Amorntep, the investigating officer, inspected the scene, documenting evidence and reviewing CCTV footage that captured the Ford Ranger crossing lanes and crashing into oncoming vehicles, resulting in damage to a total of four cars.
Ploysuay was taken into custody and tested for blood alcohol content, which registered at 244 milligrammes per cent, significantly above the legal limit, reported KhaoSod.
The police have charged Ploysuay with driving under the influence and causing significant damage, and she will face legal proceedings accordingly.
