Jomtien Beach revamp nears completion, flooding fix underway

Pattaya’s Jomtien Beach transformation is well underway, with more than 80% of the project completed as the city works to tackle persistent flooding and modernise its landscape.

Set for completion by the end of this year, the massive upgrade promises better drainage, improved footpaths, more parking, and enhanced lighting—a game-changer for residents and tourists alike.

Mayor Poramet Ngampichet recently inspected the site to assess progress. The key focus is the installation of a 3,528-metre-long drainage system, with work now 80% finished.

The project also includes a 3-kilometre pedestrian sidewalk, currently at 40% completion. The improvements aim to alleviate chronic flooding in Jomtien and surrounding Pattaya areas.

Beyond flood control, the project is giving Jomtien Beach a major facelift. The city is installing underground electrical systems, reorganising sidewalks, and adding approximately 400 new parking spaces, bringing the total to around 700 spots for both locals and visitors.

Safety is also a top priority, with a 4-kilometre stretch of High Mast Lighting poles being installed to enhance visibility along the beachfront, said an official.

“This ambitious project isn’t just about solving the flooding problem. It’s about making Jomtien Beach more modern, convenient, and attractive for both residents and tourists.”

Once completed, Jomtien Beach will boast a modernised streetscape, improved infrastructure, and better flood management, making it one of Pattaya’s most appealing seaside destinations, reported Pattaya Mail.

Meanwhile, Jomtien Beach came alive as thousands of tourists flocked to the Pattaya Squid Fair 2025, themed Pirates’ Treasure Under The Sea. Held on March 1 in front of The Now Hotel, the festival transformed the coastline into a seafood paradise, drawing visitors eager to indulge in the city’s famed beachside dining.

With over 50 seafood stalls, guests enjoyed fresh catches at unbeatable prices, creating an authentic Local Beach Food Experience. Tourists from around the world savoured grilled squid, prawns, and other delicacies while soaking in the scenic views.

Beyond the food, the event featured live music, a squid fishing competition by Jack’s Way, and a Lucky Draw Treasure giveaway, leaving visitors eager to return next year.
