A 38 year old man was killed at his home in Phatthalung. The gunman, who had been released from prison two years ago for drug charges, cut the electricity before the fatal shooting.

At 12.05am today, March 12, Police Lieutenant Athipat Maisuk from Khuan Khanun district station in Phatthalung province received a report of a shooting. The incident resulted in the death of Wuttichai, a 38 year old homeowner, in Moo 1, Makok Nuea subdistrict, Khuan Khanun district.

Upon arrival, the police discovered Wuttichai’s body inside the home. He had been shot in the head and chest with a .38 calibre firearm. Nearby, a bullet casing was found and collected as evidence.

Wuttichai’s wife, 37 year old Piyaporn, reported that while she was in another room, her husband was in the hallway when the lights went out. He reportedly asked her why the electricity was off before she heard three gunshots.

Rushing out, she found her husband shot dead. It is believed that the assailant entered the house quietly through the back, shut off the power, and then carried out the shooting.

Neighbours and relatives revealed that after his release from a drug-related prison sentence, Wuttichai had become reclusive. The police’s investigation uncovered a history of drug-related offences, gun possession, and erratic behaviour, which had previously disturbed neighbours and might have contributed to his death.

Police are conducting further interviews with Piyaporn to ascertain the motive behind the killing. Police suspect the gunman was well-acquainted with Wuttichai, reported KhaoSod.

In similar news, a 32 year old man was shot and seriously injured after failing to repay a debt of tens of thousands of baht. The shooting took place at 6am on February 26 at a house in the Mueang district of Chon Buri province. Police Lieutenant Chinawat Thisala received the report of the incident.
