British man plays Russian roulette after gas, grass binge and loses

A British man is fighting for his life after a shocking game of Russian roulette went horribly wrong in a Pattaya condo, following a heavy session involving cannabis and nitrous oxide, better known as laughing gas.

Police revealed the incident unfolded in the early hours of yesterday, April 8 at a high-rise flat on Soi Chaiyaphruek 1, Pattaya City, where Michael, a British national, was found unconscious with a bullet wound square in the forehead.

The gory discovery was made by rescue workers and tourist police, who were scrambled to the scene after a frantic call from the victim’s room-mate, identified as 29 year old Alichanovas, of Lithuanian nationality.

Police Lieutenant Panasarn Krongsit from Pattaya City Police confirmed the incident, which took place in condo room number 1119 on the 11th floor. Officers, along with medics from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan rescue unit, found the Brit sprawled on the floor in a pool of blood.

A medical team performed emergency CPR before rushing him to hospital in a critical condition.

Inside the flat, police found a .38 calibre revolver with a single spent casing, a tank of laughing gas, and several used balloons, signs of recent drug use. Blood was splattered across the floor.

In a statement to police, Alichanovas claimed his British friend had “used marijuana and inhaled laughing gas before losing his mind and inviting him to play Russian roulette.”

“I was scared and didn’t dare join in. While I was lying down, I heard him pull the trigger, nothing happened at first. But shortly after, I heard a loud gunshot. I jumped up and found him on the floor, bleeding. I called for help and ran down to get the security guard.”

Pattaya police have launched a full investigation, working with forensics to collect gunshot residue and examine how the British man came to possess the weapon, Amarin TV reported.

Alichanovas was taken in for questioning as officers probe the origin of the firearm.

Superintendent Pol. Col. Anek Sathongyu said they’re not ruling out foul play, though early signs suggest the Brit may have fired the shot himself during the reckless game.

Police are continuing to collect evidence as Michael remains in a critical condition.
