Thunderstorm warning: Thailand braced for a real down pour

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has sounded the alarm for today, warning tourists and residents to brace themselves as heavy rain is set to drench 49 provinces with thunderous booms and gusty gales, Bangkok included. Residents are urged to stay vigilant, as some areas could even see a surprise visit from hailstones.
The current weather conditions are influenced by a low-pressure system caused by heat over upper Thailand, resulting in hot to very hot weather in some areas. The combination of southwesterly and southeasterly winds across this region is expected to bring thunderstorms and strong winds.
People in upper Thailand are urged to remain cautious and take care of their health due to the high temperatures by avoiding prolonged outdoor activities.
In the Gulf of Thailand, the Andaman Sea, and southern Thailand, easterly and southeasterly winds will bring isolated thunderstorms. Waves are expected to reach approximately 1 metre in height, with areas experiencing thunderstorms seeing waves exceeding 2 metres. Mariners are advised to avoid sailing in stormy conditions.
A high-pressure system or moderate cold air mass from China is expected to cover northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea from April 12 to 14. This will coincide with hot to very hot conditions in upper Thailand, leading to summer storms characterised by thunderstorms, gusty winds, and occasional hail, alongside potential lightning strikes.
The accumulation of dust and haze in northern and northeastern Thailand is moderate to high but is expected to stabilise or decrease due to rainfall.
