Young man robbed at gunpoint near Chatuchak Park MRT station

A young man from Chiang Mai was robbed at gunpoint near the Mo Chit BTS station near Chatuchak Market after arriving at the Mo Chit bus terminal. Officers from Prachachuen Police Station are actively pursuing the suspect involved in this brazen robbery that occurred around 6.23am yesterday, September 23.

Police Colonel Sanya Ubonviratana, the chief of Prachachuen Police Station, directed patrol and investigative teams to probe the robbery that took place opposite a coffee shop near the Mo Chit BTS station on Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road in the Chatuchak district of Bangkok. The victim, who had just gotten off a bus from Chiang Mai, was walking towards the BTS station when he was confronted by the armed robber.

Upon investigating the scene, police gathered that the victim was walking g from the Mo Chit bus terminal to catch the underground train at Chatuchak Park MRT station. As he reached the location of the incident, a man wearing a black full-face helmet, a black jacket, and long trousers approached him.

The robber, who had been waiting on a black X MAX motorcycle of unknown registration, brandished a gun-like weapon and demanded the victim’s iPhone 11, worth approximately 10,000 baht. After seizing the phone, the robber fled on his motorcycle towards Vibhavadi Road. Fortunately, the victim was not physically harmed during the incident.

Officers escorted the victim to Prachachuen Police Station for further questioning. Currently, the investigative team is scrutinising CCTV footage from the area to trace the suspect’s escape route and the path taken before the robbery.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspect to come forward and assist in the investigation. Officers are particularly interested in identifying the black X MAX motorcycle used during the crime. This robbery in broad daylight has raised concerns among locals and commuters, prompting increased vigilance in the area, reported KhaoSod.
