Thailand & China strengthen ties, celebrate 50 years of diplomacy

Thailand and China are enhancing their collaboration across various sectors, including society, economy, trade, and investment, according to Phinij Jarusombat, former Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Thai-Chinese Cultural Relationship Council.
During a significant event on March 2 at the China Cultural Centre in Bangkok, celebrating 50 years of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations, Phinij highlighted the strengthening ties between the two nations.
The occasion featured a performance by the Symphony Choir of China, paying artistic homage to the enduring friendship between Thailand and China.
The celebration was attended by notable figures such as Professor Wang Huan, the wife of the Chinese ambassador to Thailand; Chang Yumeng, Minister Counsellor for Culture at the Chinese Embassy; and Associate Professor Dr Cholawit Jiarajit, acting president of Srinakharinwirot University.

Phinij stressed that 2024 represents a golden year for Thai-Chinese relations, marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
He expressed hope that the music performed in Bangkok would echo throughout China, symbolising the growing friendship and cooperation.
He emphasised the significance of further enhancing economic, trade, investment, tourism, cultural, and educational exchanges.
Additionally, he expressed optimism about increasing Thai durian exports to China at unprecedented prices.
The event featured exceptional choral performances, serving as a cultural link between Thailand and China.
The Symphony Choir of China impressed the audience with their remarkable vocal talent, illustrating how music can transcend borders, reported Bangkok Post.
This celebration not only commemorated five decades of diplomatic relations but also fostered a deeper understanding between the peoples of Thailand and China, reinforcing their robust partnership.
In similar news, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra kicked off a landmark visit to China, meeting President Xi Jinping in Beijing on February 6 in a high-level diplomatic exchange at the Great Hall of the People.
The visit comes as Thailand and China celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations, marking what Xi described as a “golden year of friendship.”
