Suicidal Thai woman thanks public donations relieving hardship

A suicidal Thai woman expressed gratitude for the support she received, alleviating her financial burdens. Her husband previously resorted to eating dog food due to hunger.

The situation came to light when Police Lieutenant Pornsak Saneha received a report of a potential suicide attempt near a pier along the Bang Pakong River in Mueang Chachoengsao district. Rescue workers found the 50 year old woman, Anjanee, in a distressed state and learned she struggled to support her family alone, with outstanding debts and a sick husband suffering from a cerebral artery condition.

As of yesterday, March 17, several organisations have stepped in to assist. Chachoengsao rescue workers helped by installing a satellite TV dish, replacing the stolen one. Krissada Mahawiriyothai, chairman of Wat Saman Rattanaram, on behalf of the provincial monk council chief, donated 10,000 baht and essential supplies.

Additionally, social development officials, including Pranee Pratoomma and Jamnean Suksomboon, engaged with Anjanee to discuss her challenges and provide further assistance. Donations for Anjanee have surpassed 120,000 baht as of 3.30pm.

Anjanee revealed her feelings of loneliness and inadequacy as a family head. Witnessing her husband’s desperation deeply saddened her, leading to contemplating leaving this world.

Her struggles included unpaid house and motorcycle rent, a broken motorcycle used for work, and a stolen TV satellite dish. However, she expressed profound gratitude for the outpouring of support from government bodies, rescue services, reporters, and the Thai public.

With plans to clear her motorcycle debt of around 20,000 baht and settle two months of overdue rent, Anjanee aims to convert her rent into an annual payment. The remaining funds will go towards necessary expenses and supporting her husband. She remains committed to her job as a motorcycle taxi driver, now relieved of debt and able to sustain her livelihood, reported KhaoSod.

Anjanee thanked everyone for giving her and her husband a new lease on life.
