A 19 year old motorcyclist tragically lost his life on his birthday after colliding with a pickup truck while riding against traffic in heavy rain. The accident occurred yesterday, September 1, revealing a poignant coincidence with the motorbike’s registration plate matching his birth date.
The incident took place at 11.50pm the previous night on Highway 3056, in front of Wat Khok Mayom in Uthai district, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province. Police Lieutenant Somjit Sirisawang from Uthai Police Station, along with Ayutthaya Ruam Jai Foundation officers, rushed to the scene following the report.

The motorcyclist had been riding against traffic in heavy rain when he collided head-on with the pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck, 37 year old Chutithanpipat recounted the moments leading up to the accident.
He was in the process of delivering goods to a customer when the vehicle in front of him swerved to avoid the wrong-way motorcycle. Unable to react in time, the motorcycle crashed violently into his pickup.
Police examined the crash site meticulously, inspecting the collision marks on both vehicles. Chutithanpipat was brought in for further questioning to proceed with legal actions, if necessary. Meanwhile, Phongsathorn’s body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani for a detailed post-mortem examination.
In a heart-wrenching twist, investigators noted that the motorcycle’s registration number coincidentally matched Phongsathorn’s birthdate. He was born on September 1, which was also the date of the accident, and the registration included the abbreviation for September, reported KhaoSod.
The tragic event emphasises the dangers of riding against traffic, especially under adverse weather conditions. This incident serves as a stark reminder to all motorists to adhere to traffic laws and drive cautiously, particularly during heavy rain when road visibility and conditions worsen significantly.
