Shocking tragedy: Farmer electrocuted by water pump in Sisaket

A tragic incident unfolded when a farmer was electrocuted while attempting to use a pump to draw water into his fields. The mishap occurred near a pond in the middle of a field in Ban Kho Klang Noi, Village 4, E Lam subdistrict, Uthumphon Phisai district, Sisaket province.

Local police received a report of a man fatally electrocuted yesterday, November 25 at around 3.30pm. Upon investigation, they discovered the lifeless body of 45 year old Amorntham, lying face down with both hands firmly gripping an electric water pump, which showed burn marks on his palms.

A relative of the deceased, 72 year old Han, recounted that Amorntham had left home early in the morning. Concerned about his absence, Har was approached by other relatives to check on Amorntham’s whereabouts. Upon arrival at the scene, Har was shocked to find Amorntham lying face down, still clutching the pump. Har and nearby villagers quickly unplugged the device and moved Amorntham’s body, only to realise he had already passed away.

A close acquaintance of Amorntham, 63 year old Thongson, described the deceased as a pious individual who frequently engaged in charitable activities and was a devoted member of the local temple. Before the incident, Amorntham mentioned to Thongson that he had repaired the pump for 800 baht but had not tested it before using it to pump water into his fields.

“I advised him to be careful since the pump had just been fixed. Unfortunately, the warning came too late, and he was electrocuted.”

Police stated that they will conduct further investigations to ensure compliance with legal procedures.
