Royal spectacle: Thai king’s first trooping the colour parade
In a dazzling display of tradition and grandeur, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua will oversee his first Trooping the Colour parade this afternoon, December 3, joined by Her Majesty the Queen consort Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya.
This historic event marks a pivotal moment in royal ceremonial history, with the announcement made official in the Royal Gazette.
The parade, set to unfold at Dusit Palace’s grounds, forms part of the year-long celebrations honouring the king’s sixth-circle birthday anniversary, which took place on July 28. Described as the “first ceremonial event of its kind” since the king ascended to the throne, it will also feature the Royal Thai Army’s solemn oath of allegiance.
The spectacle begins at 4pm, with live broadcasts capturing every regal detail. His Majesty the King will travel from Ambara Villa to Dusit Palace through the Phuthon Lilat Gate in a royal car, inspecting soldiers’ formations along the route.
The queen, an army general and commander of the King’s Guards, will lead the parade, which includes the cavalry battalion headed by Princess Sirivannavari, also an army general. Mounted on horseback, the princess will lead the procession with her characteristic elegance and poise.
Following the parade, General Songwit Noonpakdee, Chief of Defence Forces, will conduct the oath-taking ceremony. The festivities will culminate in a breathtaking drone display featuring over 2,000 drones lighting up the night sky, a tribute to the king and his unwavering dedication to the nation, reported Bangkok Post.
In related news, to celebrate His Majesty the King’s 6th cycle birthday, the Thai government launched 10 ambitious royal projects under the theme Forest, Water, People. These initiatives align with His Majesty’s vision to blend environmental conservation with improving the quality of life for Thai citizens.
In other news, Bangkok’s skyline has a new star, and it’s shimmering with royal splendour. The stunning Rama X Bridge, now fully completed across the Chao Phraya River, is set to officially open in a grand ceremony presided over by none other than His Majesty the King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua on December 14.
