Four Danish tourists were left battered and bruised after a collision between their minivan taxi and a pickup truck in Thalang, Phuket.
The crash unfolded yesterday morning, December 11 on the Mueang Mai – Paklok Road in Thep Krasattri.
Thalang Police received report of a crash at 9.30am, and rushed to the accident scene where a minivan lay battered on the roadside. The victims, a Danish family of four, were identified as a 47 year old woman named Sanne, a 55 year old man named Joakim, a 15 year old boy Paul, and 13 year old Agnes. The victims were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Not far from the crash scene, the rescue squad discovered the remains of a pickup truck. Its driver, identified only as 59 year old Sonthaya, was also injured, and recounted the accident. The minivan’s designated driver, 23 year old Kittisak, was also involved in the crash.
Narrating the tragic sequence of events, Kittisak informed the investigating officers that their journey originated from the Phuket International Airport, with Ao Po Pier in Paklok as their intended destination. However, the pickup truck, recklessly attempting to overtake another vehicle on the same lane, inadvertently chose the minivan as its unfortunate target, reported Pattaya News.
