Fatal road accident in Phuket: Pickup truck crashes, driver dies on spot
A fatal road accident occurred in Phuket, where a pickup truck lost control and crashed into the central road divider. The driver was thrown from the vehicle and died on the spot, while his companion, Witya, also 48 years old, was injured.
At approximately 1.50am today, Police Lieutenant Thanpisit Mueangchan, an investigative officer at Thalang Police Station, was alerted to an accident involving a pickup truck that had lost control and crashed into the central road divider near the Thalang Power Plant on Thepkrasattri Road, Moo 5, Sri Sunthon Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket.
The police rushed to investigate the scene along with rescue workers from the Sri Sunthon Municipal, the Advanced EMS of Thalang Hospital, and volunteers from the Kusontham Phuket Foundation, reported KhaoSod.
Upon arrival, they found a Mitsubishi pick-up truck with Phuket registration บพ-5214 overturned in the middle of the road. Suwit, the 48 year old driver, had been thrown from the vehicle and was lying dead on the road with a significant amount of blood around his head.
Near the central road divider, they found the injured Wittaya, who had suffered injuries to his back and arm. Rescue workers gave him first aid before rushing him to Thalang Hospital.
Following this, the officer coordinated with a recovery vehicle to remove the overturned truck from the road and recorded the scene of the accident. He then went to Thalang Hospital to question the injured Wittaya for more information and to examine the CCTV footage to establish the exact cause of the accident.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the Phuket Charity Foundation officials to be taken to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
