Pattaya’s traffic tangle tackled: Mayor unveils school scheme
Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet launched a groundbreaking initiative to tackle the chaos of school traffic as the new semester kicks off. The mayor has rallied the Order Maintenance Division and traffic police from Pattaya City to ensure smooth and safe commutes for students and parents.
Determined to ease the daily gridlock, city officials are out in force every morning and evening, especially during the dreaded rush hours. The aim is to create a seamless travel experience by strategically directing vehicles, managing pedestrian flows, and regulating intersections around municipal schools.
“Our priority is the safety and efficiency of our school zones.”
The mayor’s efforts didn’t stop there. Recognising the persistent traffic snarls at railway intersections, the Order Maintenance Division also teamed up with traffic police from Banglamung and Nongprue stations. This collaborative effort aims to enhance traffic management at these notoriously busy junctions, reducing disruptions and ensuring a smoother ride for everyone, reported Pattaya Mail.
With city officials taking a hands-on approach, parents and students can now look forward to a more efficient and stress-free commute.
In related news, Phuket’s traffic congestion crisis might be getting some relief with the expansion of a small road that connects Wat Tha Reua, south of the Heroines Monument, to Baan Manik in Cherng Talay. The road has been broadened in hopes of reducing the heavy traffic load on Thepkrasattri Road and Srisoonthorn Road.
In other news, Pattaya saw over 200 business owners on Jomtien Beach Road petitioning the deputy mayor to revoke a one-way traffic rule that had been put into place. This rule, implemented on March 1, pertains to a stretch of Jomtien Beach Road from Dongtan Curve to the Chaiyapruek Intersection.
The one-way traffic rule is one aspect of a larger project, which includes several undertakings: the laying of HDPE drainage pipes through roadside excavation, the installation of underground electrical systems, road resurfacing, and improvements in lighting.
