Pattaya’s park and spark: New parking plan kicks off on South Road
Pattaya City is preparing to introduce new parking areas, beginning with a pilot programme on Pattaya South Road. Deputy Mayor Wuttisak Rermkijakarn chaired a meeting yesterday with officials responsible for organising parking in the city. The meeting included city council members and traffic police from Pattaya and Bang Lamung police stations.
Following the discussions, Wuttisak revealed that the city council has approved a series of new parking zones in Pattaya. This plan has already been signed by the mayor and received approval from the Chon Buri governor.
The designated areas span five key locations: Beach Road from Dusit Thani Pattaya Hotel to Pattaya South Pier Intersection, including Walking Street; Pattaya South Road from Walking Street to Sukhumvit Road; Pattaya-Naklua Road from Phothisamphan School to Sukhumvit Road; Lan Pho Market parking lot; and Dongtan parking area.
Pattaya South Road has been selected as the initial site to trial the new parking regulations. Wuttisak mentioned that officials will regularly inform the public about these areas. Initially, those who park illegally will receive warnings. Persistent violators may have their vehicles locked and face fines.
“We aim to organise parking better to ease the traffic flow and provide convenience for locals and tourists.”
The deputy mayor added that these initiatives are part of broader efforts to enhance the city’s infrastructure and address the long-standing issues related to parking and traffic congestion.
City council members expressed their support for the initiative, emphasising the importance of improving the city’s traffic management.
“Public cooperation will be crucial for the success of this programme.”
Wuttisak urged residents and visitors to adhere to the new regulations and to be patient as the city works to improve parking facilities, reported Pattaya News.
“This is just the beginning. We are committed to continuous improvement and making Pattaya a more liveable and accessible city for everyone.”
