Intoxicated driver flips car in Pattaya accident
In the early hours of yesterday, an intoxicated Thai man overturned his car on Petchtrakul Road in Pattaya.
The Sawang Boriboon Thammatasan Rescue Unit was promptly dispatched to the location in the Na Kluea subdistrict of the Banglamung district in Chon Buri province, where they found a black Toyota Vios sedan, with Bangkok licence plates, lying on its roof.
The driver, identified as 48 year old Suphot was fortunate to escape the wreckage with minor injuries. Pattaya police, who arrived later for investigation, could clearly see that he was under the influence of alcohol.
The accident also involved a second car that was parked by the roadside. The owner of this vehicle, 34 year old Thanakorn Sunantha, was inside his car eating when the sedan crashed into the rear of his vehicle, causing the sedan to flip upside down.
In the aftermath of the accident, Suphot was escorted to the Pattaya Police Station where he was subjected to a breathalyser test, reported Pattaya News.
Pending the results of this test, he is likely to face charges of drunk driving, among other related offences.
