Human skull discovery near Chachoengsao sparks police probe (video)

Long-haired skull found in grass, prompts missing persons investigation

A human skull wrapped in a pink towel was discovered alongside two black bags near Mueang subdistrict, Ban Pho district, Chachoengsao province.

The skull, which showed signs of trauma likely from a blunt object, had long red hair attached to it. This led police to suspect the deceased was a woman. No other human remains were found in the vicinity.

Today, May 28, police volunteers and officers from Mueang Police Station in Chachoengsao conducted a thorough search of the surrounding area, spending an hour combing through dense grass but finding no additional evidence.

Investigations are ongoing, with police focusing on local worker camps near the discovery site.

Police Major Kritsanak Sakchai, a senior officer at Mueang Police Station, has been investigating nearby worker camps to identify any missing persons.

As of now, there have been no reports of missing persons from these camps. The investigation is being expanded to review CCTV footage from mid-April to determine if any suspicious activity was captured.

Police Colonel Pornchai Kittikhajornthorn, head of Mueang Police Station, stated that two main theories are being explored. Firstly, the deceased might be a foreign worker, prompting checks of local camps for missing persons. Secondly, the skull’s discovery suggests an unnatural death, as body parts may have been disposed of in the area after being killed elsewhere, reported KhaoSod.

No recent missing person reports have been filed in the district over the past month.

Police Major General Kriengkrai Bunson, the provincial police commander of Chachoengsao, convened a meeting with all relevant agencies to discuss strategies for resolving the case. Residents remain unsettled by the grim discovery, which was first reported last month.

In similar news, a skeleton wearing a yellow sports shirt was found among water hyacinths in a public pond in Chaiyaphum province, believed to be over a month old.

Police, rescue workers, and a doctor arrived on April 13 to investigate, but due to decomposition, the victim’s identity, age, and cause of death remain unknown.
