Heavy rain forecast for 30 Thai provinces, including Bangkok

High likelihood of rainfall across the nation as typhoon threat still looms

Today, October 8, 2025, the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has forecasted increased rainfall, with heavy rain expected in approximately 30 provinces, including Bangkok. The TMD has issued a warning due to a persistent monsoon trough that is currently affecting the northern, central, and eastern regions of the country.

The conditions are a direct result of the monsoon trough coupled with prevailing weather systems in the region, bringing with them the risk of flash floods and surface water runoff in low-lying areas.

Regional weather updates

The central region is expected to have thunderstorms in 60% of the area, particularly in key provinces such as Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Saraburi, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Sakhon. Temperatures will range from a minimum of 24 to 26 degrees Celsius (°C) to a maximum of 33 to 34, with southwesterly winds at 10 to 20 kilometres per hour (km/h).

Bangkok and its vicinity will experience thunderstorms in 70% of the area, with some places seeing heavy rainfall. Temperatures will be slightly lower, with a minimum of 25 to 26 °C and a maximum of 32 to 34 °C.

In the north, 40% of the area will see thunderstorms, with heavy rainfall expected in Tak, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun. Temperatures will range from 22 to 25°C to highs of 32 to 35°C, with variable winds at 10 to 15 km/h.

The northeast is expected to have thunderstorms in 60% of the area, with significant rainfall in Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, and Surin provinces. Temperatures here will be between 23 to 25 °C and 32 to 34°C, with easterly winds at 10 to 20 km/h.

The eastern region is set for a high probability of thunderstorms in 70% of the area, including heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chanthaburi, and Trat. The minimum temperature will be 23 to 25°C, and the maximum temperature will be 31 to 33°C. Winds will be southwesterly at 15 to 30 km/h.

Along the coast, waves are expected to be about high, increasing to more than in stormy areas.

For the southern region (east coast), thunderstorms are expected in 60% of the area, with heavy rain in Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, and Narathiwat. The minimum temperature will be 23 to 25 °C, and the maximum temperature will be 31 to 35°Caves will be around high, exceeding in areas with thunderstorms.
