Heavy rain and hail hit Thailand amid summer storm

The Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD) has issued its sixth warning for a summer storm expected to hit 46 provinces, including Bangkok, with heavy rain, strong winds, hail, and lightning in certain areas. Residents are advised to exercise caution.
Issued at 5pm yesterday, March 6, the announcement details that northern, northeastern, central Thailand, Bangkok and its surrounding areas, and the east will experience summer storms featuring thunderstorms, strong winds, and sporadic hail.
Lightning may also occur in some regions. These conditions arise due to a moderate high-pressure system from China impacting the northeastern region and South China Sea while hot to extremely hot weather persists over upper Thailand. Southerly and southeasterly winds are bringing moisture to these areas.
In a previous announcement, the TMD revealed that 40 provinces would face severe weather. Residents in affected areas are urged to avoid thunderstorms or open spaces, large trees, unstable structures, and billboards.
Farmers are encouraged to fortify their crops and prepare for potential damage to agricultural and livestock production. Health precautions should be maintained during this period of changing weather conditions.

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates summer storms in the northeastern, central, and eastern regions, featuring thunderstorms, lightning, and potentially damaging winds and hail.
Upper Thailand remains hot, with extremely hot conditions in some central areas. Residents should avoid travel through storm-affected regions, and farmers should safeguard crops and livestock.

A moderate high-pressure system from China covers northeastern Thailand and the South China Sea, while low pressure from heat affects upper Thailand. Southerly and southeasterly winds are bringing moisture to these regions.
Meanwhile, weakened easterly and southeasterly winds over the Gulf of Thailand, the south, and the Andaman Sea will strengthen, increasing rainfall in the south. High waves are expected in areas with thunderstorms, and mariners should avoid sailing in these conditions, reported KhaoSod.
Dust and haze levels remain moderate in the north and northeast, with a decreasing trend as wind strength increases. The weather forecast specifies conditions for each region, including temperatures and expected precipitation levels, providing guidance for residents and mariners.
