Two lifeless bodies were discovered in a remote house in the southern province of Nakhon Si Thammarat, leaving relatives and police shocked. The deceased, a father and daughter, were found in the same home, surrounded by mysterious artefacts, raising suspicions about the daughter’s beliefs in the supernatural.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Montri Wannakhong from the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provincial Police Station received a report of the discovery of two dead persons within a residence located in Village 5, Pakpoon subdistrict, Mueang district.

The report came yesterday, November 27 at 3pm, prompting an immediate response from Thai police, medical professionals from Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital, and the Pracharuamjai Foundation’s rescue team. The scene was a single-storey house situated behind the Wachirawut Camp Airport, isolated from nearby residences, accessible only through the airport.

Inside, police officers found 57 year old Ketsada lying dead in the kitchen, dressed in a yellow short-sleeved shirt and black trousers. Her death was estimated to have occurred four to six days prior. In a nearby room, the skeletal remains of 87 year old Samrerng, were discovered, shrouded by a mosquito net. His body had been decomposing for over three months.

During the investigation, Chakrit, Samrerng’s son, disclosed that Ketsada was his sister and had been caring for their bedridden father for several years. Over the past months, Ketsada had frequently requested money from family members, claiming it was for their father’s care. However, she had consistently stopped the family from visiting, insisting she was managing well.

“Relatives came to visit because they hadn’t seen my sister in days. The stench of decay led them to alert the police, who then found my sister dead in the kitchen and my father nearby, covered with a net. No one knows how they died. My sister never let anyone into the house. She’d collect money from us and then return home.”

Preliminary investigations suggest that Samrerng likely passed away due to old age, yet Ketsada did not inform anyone, even as relatives sought to visit. Police speculate she may have suffered a fatal accident, such as a fall, or succumbed to a sudden illness, leaving her unable to seek help before her death.

Both bodies have been sent for a detailed autopsy at the Maharaj Nakhon Si Thammarat Hospital’s forensic department to ascertain the exact causes of death, reported KhaoSod.

Locals have been abuzz with speculation, attributing Ketsada’s behaviour to possible beliefs in the supernatural. The house was filled with mystical items, including child spirit dolls and talismans, fuelling rumours that Ketsada may have adhered to spiritual practices. Despite her father’s death months prior, she kept it a secret from all, including her own family.
