Elderly woman injured in Nonthaburi hit-and-run, taxi flees (video)

A 71 year old woman was struck by a taxi while crossing a pedestrian crossing near the Tam Laek restaurant, opposite the clock tower at Tha Nam Non in Nonthaburi province, before the cab fled the scene.

The woman’s family has called on witnesses in the area during the incident to come forward. The incident was captured in a 31-second video clip shared on the Facebook page Khao Khon Non yesterday, January 9. The collision occurred between 5am and 5.30am on January 5.

The Facebook page further reported the search for the green and yellow taxi, whose registration number is currently unknown. The elderly woman sustained injuries from the accident, which occurred near the Mueang Nonthaburi Police Station.

Her family has already filed a report with the police and is reviewing CCTV footage from various locations to trace the taxi’s route, which is believed to have headed from Tha Nam Non towards Phra Nang Klao Intersection.

Additionally, the family is seeking assistance from motorists who were in the vicinity at the time of the incident. Anyone with dashboard camera footage or who recalls the taxi’s registration number is urged to contact the ข่าวคนนนท์ Facebook page, reported KhaoSod.

In related news, a white saloon car collided with a motorcycle in Thalang district, Phuket on the morning of December 14, dragging the rider’s lifeless body for 800 metres before fleeing the scene. Police have identified the vehicle’s owner and are preparing to launch an investigation.

In other news, a tragic accident unfolded in Udon Thani, where an elderly couple riding a motorcycle with a sidecar from Nakhon Phanom to Nong Bua Lam Phu was struck by a six-wheeled truck, resulting in one fatality and another person seriously injured. Police are actively searching for the truck driver who fled the scene following the incident.
