Family ties in flames: Former son-in-law caught in alleged arson incident in Chon Buri
A former son-in-law was identified and apprehended for alleged arson on a residential property, according to Don Hua Lo Police in Chon Buri yesterday. The suspect, a 34 year old man, had previously threatened to kill and is identified as being connected to the homeowner, 68 years old man.
Boonchuey Naksri explained that he received information about his house being set on fire. The incident is directly related to his former son-in-law, Ponsawad who had been living with his daughter before they eventually parted ways. He had previously threatened to commit murder and is suspected to be behind the fire. Boonchuey added that the police have already apprehended the suspect, reported KhaoSod.
Ponsawad, however, denied any involvement in the incident. Despite his separation from Boonchuey’s daughter, he continued to visit the house.
On the day of the incident, he came to visit but did not dare enter the house for fear of being accused of trespassing. Upon noticing the fire, he reported it to the police, only to later find himself being taken to the police station on suspicion of arson. He also mentioned that the threat he had once made was a long time ago, insisting that he is a good citizen who reported the incident rather than perpetrated it.
The police are currently trying to get to the bottom of the blaze.
In June, police arrested a 60 year old Thai man after he locked his daughter-in-law in a small cottage and set fire to the property, resulting in her death. The murder was motivated by a series of disputes between the alleged alcoholic and the victim.
Officers from the Mueng Nakhon Si Thammarat Police Station, who were notified about the murder, rushed to the scene of the crime, a small fire-damaged wooden cottage. Upon investigating the cottage, an officer discovered the charred dead body of a 29 year old woman named Naruemon Katekaew. To read more click HERE
