A rental room owner found a tenant dead in his room, suspected to have died from excessive alcohol consumption. Police investigation revealed that the 40 year old man had been consuming herbal alcoholic drinks with friends in the days leading up to his death.

Police officer Boonchuen Sarasook from Phan Thong Police Station in Chon Buri received a report of a death yesterday, January 2, in a rental room located in Village 4, Nong Tamlueng, Phan Thong district, Chon Buri province. Upon receiving the report, the officer, along with a rescue team from the Tri Khunatham Foundation, proceeded to the scene to investigate the incident. The site was a single-storey row of rental rooms, where numerous empty bottles were found scattered outside the room. Inside, they discovered the body of Anurak Wangsant, who appeared to have been deceased for approximately three days.

A close friend of the deceased, 42 year old Boonsong recounted the events leading up to the discovery. He explained that he and Anurak had purchased herbal alcohol and consumed it together at the end of December. After that, Boonsong didn’t see Anurak leave his room, but he did not suspect anything unusual until the police and the room owner arrived to check on him.

The room owner, concerned about irregular water usage in Anurak’s room, decided to investigate. Despite knocking on the door and calling out, there was no response. Using a spare key, the owner opened the door, only to be met by a foul smell emanating from the bathroom, where Anurak’s body was found in a state of decomposition.

“At first, I noticed something strange about the water usage in his room. When I knocked and got no response, I had to use the spare key. The smell was overwhelming, and that’s how I found him.”

Preliminary investigations led the police to take Boonsong for further questioning, given that he was the last known person to have consumed alcohol with Anurak. It was revealed that the two friends had purchased herbal alcoholic drinks before the unfortunate incident, reported KhaoSod.
