The family of a Chinese tourist who tragically died in a paragliding accident in Phetchabun has cremated his body and is now preparing to take legal action against the agency responsible for the fatal activity. The incident occurred when Huang Hao, a Chinese national, was paragliding from Phu Thap Boek and fell to his death in Lom Kao district on December 5.
In the morning, the family of the deceased visited Lom Kao Somdej Phra Yuparat Hospital to claim Huang Hao’s body. The funeral rites were performed at Prachum Khongkharam Temple in Lom Sak district, Phetchabun, with a gathering of officials and rescue teams in attendance.
The ceremony was supported by Thanit Wongwiset, a local tourism and sports official, and Padarin Wongpromthao, a representative from the tourist assistance centre in Phetchabun.
Also present were tourism police and members of the Sawang Mongkol Sathan Lom Sak rescue team. The cremation took place, and the remains were collected at 4pm on the same day.
According to an interpreter assisting the family, they plan to sue the agency that organised the paragliding activity for Huang Hao, alleging negligence that led to his untimely death.
After the rites, the family planned to take the ashes to the Chinese Embassy in Thailand to begin the process of receiving the necessary documents for insurance claims. They intend to return to China with the ashes following these legal proceedings, reported KhaoSod.
The Tourist Assistance Coordination Centre in Phetchabun has pledged to assist the family in coordinating with relevant tourist assistance centres to ensure their travel back to China is as smooth as possible.
