A distressed mother called the police on account of her son’s erratic behaviour following his consumption of cannabis, she caught him talking to a cow. Her son, who had been showing signs of hallucination, was found talking to a cow and its newborn calf. Chai Nat police officers responded promptly and assessed the situation.

Officers from the Mueang Chai Nat Police Station received a report yesterday of a man causing a disturbance at a residence in Village 4, Khao Tha Phra Subdistrict, Mueang Chai Nat District. Upon arrival, officers found the 28 year old Thai man, Bank, standing shirtless and mumbling in front of a recently calved cow. Despite his peculiar behaviour, Bank did not exhibit any signs of aggression.

Officers questioned Bank about drug use. He denied using methamphetamine, admitting only to smoking cannabis. They observed him for a while, noting that although he was responsive to their questions, Bank continued to talk to the newborn calf.

Since there was no immediate danger, officers decided to leave Bank in the care of his family, advising them to contact the police immediately if his behaviour turned violent.

Bank’s mother expressed her concerns, stating that her son had been experiencing hallucinations since the legalisation of cannabis. She revealed that although he had never harmed anyone, his bizarre actions worried her. Bank’s responsibilities included taking care of the family’s cattle, which they sold for income.

“My son began hallucinating after cannabis was legalised. He talks to himself frequently and has even walked around with a knife. He often shouts at imaginary people.”

Recently, Bank had taken on the role of guarding a newborn calf, staying close to it and conversing with it for hours. This behaviour alarmed the neighbours, prompting them to call the police as a precaution.

Bank’s mother further explained that his hallucinations had been sporadic. On good days, he performed his duties without issue. However, his sudden outbursts and solitary conversations became more frequent, causing concern for the safety of those around him.

“Although he hasn’t hurt anyone, the unpredictability of his actions is concerning. We worry about what might happen next.”

The police assured the family that they would respond swiftly if Bank’s condition worsened, recommending that he seek medical treatment should his hallucinations persist, reported KhaoSod.
