Krabi is reeling from a chilling discovery after a man’s charred body was found in a burnt-out vehicle amid an abandoned palm plantation. This grisly find came hot on the heels of locals in the area reporting gunshots echoing through the night in the Ao Luek district.

Early yesterday, October 6, police were called to the Southern Seaboard Road, where they stumbled upon the haunting scene: an Isuzu pick-up truck, registration number บน 6905, Trang, smouldering with its driver’s door ominously ajar.

Amongst the overgrown palms, they discovered the badly burnt body of a man, believed to be in his late 60s. With only a 20-baht note and some loose change in his waist pouch, the man carried no ID, adding to the mystery surrounding his death.

Officials from Ao Luek Police Station joined forces with forensic specialists and local officials to comb through the evidence. The body has since been whisked away for a thorough autopsy to unravel the true cause of death, as initial checks showed no obvious injuries.

Village head Jakrit Nurin recounted the chilling moment residents heard twin gunshots, swiftly followed by leaping flames—a sequence that drew immediate police and fire brigade intervention, reported KhaoSod.

In a twist straight out of a crime drama, investigators suspect two vehicles were implicated. Eye-witnesses claimed that the vehicles manoeuvred towards the secluded plantation from Phet Kasem Road. Was it a set-up for a deadly confrontation or a plot to incinerate the evidence? The police aren’t ruling anything out, said Jakrit.

“Residents heard two gunshots before seeing the fire.”

Police are exploring the notion that the plantation served as an isolated stage for foul play.

With meticulous interviews and painstaking evidence collection underway, the police intend to identify both the deceased and those behind this gruesome act.
