Storm Wipha brings heavy rain and strong winds to Thailand
Officials urge caution with flash floods

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) today forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall across Thailand over the next 24 hours, with strong winds and potential flash floods in some areas. Tropical storm Wipha is expected to make landfall in northern Vietnam today.
In the north of Thailand, thunderstorms are expected to cover 80% of the area with strong winds and heavy to very heavy rainfall, particularly in provinces such as Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun. The temperatures here will vary from 22 to 26°C to 27 to 33°C.
The northeastern region will see thunderstorms in 70% of the area, with strong winds and heavy rainfall in places like Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, and Mukdahan. Temperatures are expected to be between 22 and 26°C and 27 and 32°C.
In central Thailand, 80% of the region is expected to face thunderstorms, with strong winds and heavy to very heavy rain anticipated in provinces such as Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat, Sing Buri, Ang Thong, Lop Buri, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi. The temperature will range from 23 to 25°C to 28 to 33°C.
In the eastern region, thunderstorms will occur in 60% of the area, with strong winds and very heavy rain in Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chanthaburi, and Trat. The temperatures here will range from 23 to 28°C to 29 to 32°C. The sea will have waves between 2 and 3 metres high, with waves exceeding 3 metres in thunderstorm areas.
The southern east coast will see thunderstorms in 30% of the area, with heavy rain in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan. Temperatures will be between 23 and 25°C and 31 and 36°C.

From Surat Thani northward, the sea will have waves about 2 metres high and 2 to 3 metres offshore, with waves exceeding 3 metres during thunderstorms. South of Nakhon Si Thammarat, waves will be 1 to 2 metres high, with approximately 2 metres offshore and more than 2 metres in thunderstorm areas.
On the southwestern coast, thunderstorms will affect 30% of the area with strong winds, mostly in Ranong and Phang Nga. The temperature will be from 24 to 27°C to 31 to 34°C, reported KhaoSod.
North of Phang Nga, the sea will have waves 2 to 4 metres high, with more than 4 metres during thunderstorms. South of Phuket, waves will be 2 to 3 metres, with more than 3 metres in areas with thunderstorms.
Bangkok and its surrounding areas will experience thunderstorms in 70% of the region, accompanied by strong winds. The temperatures will range from 25 to 27°C at their lowest to 30 to 32°C at their highest.
