Reduced rainfall forecast for Thailand, thunderstorms in 26 provinces
Rough waters expected despite easing rainfall

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) forecasts reduced rainfall for tomorrow, though 26 provinces may still experience thunderstorms. Coastal areas could see waves up to 2 metres high, prompting caution for seafarers.
The TMD predicts a decrease in rain over Thailand due to weakened southwesterly monsoon winds covering the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand, along with a low-pressure system over northern Vietnam. Despite the overall reduction in rain, thunderstorms remain a possibility in some areas.
The Andaman Sea’s upper region is expected to experience moderate winds, with waves reaching 1 to 2 metres in height. Meanwhile, the lower Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are likely to see waves of around 1 metre, increasing to over 2 metres during thunderstorms. Mariners are advised to navigate with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms.
In the north, thunderstorms are predicted for 30% of the area, mainly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun. Temperatures are expected to range from 23 to 25 degrees Celsius to 33 to 35°C. Southwesterly winds will blow at speeds of 5 to 15 kilometres per hour.
In the northeast, 30% of the area may experience thunderstorms, particularly in Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Buri Ram. Temperatures will range from 23 to 25°C to 30 to 34°C, with southwesterly winds at 10 to 15 kilometres per hour.
The central region will also see thunderstorms in 30% of the area, especially in Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Ratchaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Samut Songkhram, and Samut Sakhon. Temperatures are anticipated to be between 23 and 25°C and 34 and 35°C, with southwesterly winds at 10 to 15 kilometres per hour.
