Extra 25,000 seats on Thailand flights for Songkran

Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit unveiled plans to launch an aerial bonanza this Songkran, pledging to add a whopping 25,000 seats on domestic flights while slashing airfares on select routes by a tantalising 30%.
With the festival fervour set to peak between April 11 to 17, Suriya held an emergency summit yesterday, March 10. Flanked by state agency moguls and industry bigwigs, he laid down the blueprint for managing the expected travel avalanche.
Suriya summoned the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, and Thai Vietjet Air to introduce 124 extra flights, complete with the 30% fare markdown on high-demand routes.
Jet-setters can now look forward to soaring smoothly between Bangkok and hotspots like Phuket, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Koh Samui, Nakhon Phanom, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Hat Yai, and Nakhon Si Thammarat.
The tickets are up for grabs from today until March 20 via airline websites, call centres, and ticket counters.
But the travel craze doesn’t stop at the skies! The State Railway of Thailand is on track to chug out 26 additional train services linking Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal to sunny spots like Chiang Mai, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Sila At, and Yala.

Not to be outdone, the Transport Company is wheeling out 1,000 extra buses to tackle the traveller tsunami, with passenger numbers forecasted to skyrocket to 130,000 on April 11 alone.
And for road traverllers, the transport minister had a sweetener: motorists can continue cruising toll-free on the 167km Hin Kong-Pak Chong section of the M6 motorway and the 96km M81 during their trial run, reported Bangkok Post.

Meanwhile, Don Mueang International Airport is doing its bit by introducing a brand-new shuttle bus service, linking Bangkok with Pattaya, and Hua Hin.
The initiative was launched on Saturday, March 8. The shuttle service is set to transform transport connectivity, seamlessly bridging bustling airports and must-see tourist spots.
