Thailand Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin aims to elevate Thailand’s airports to be among the top 50 globally within a year and among the top 20 within five years.

The Director of the Airport of Thailand (AOT), Kirati Kitmanawat, reported the good news to the media yesterday, April 18, that Skytrax announced Don Mueang Airport scooped 10th place in the best budget airport ranking. Additionally, the ranking of Suvarnabhumi Airport also improved.

Kirati stated that Suvarnabhumi Airport had risen ten places to 58th place from 68th last year. According to Kirati, the recent introduction of Satellite 1 (SAT-1) was one of the factors improving the ranking.

The new passenger terminal received a four-star rating for its architecture, cleanliness, atmosphere, and facilities. SAT-1 boasts advanced technology and automated systems such as self-service check-in, bag drop, boarding gates, and passenger validation, contributing to its high rating.

Kirati said the four-star rate came from the technology and automated system that were available at the SAT-1 terminal. For example, the self-service check-in, self-service bag drop, self-boarding gate, and passenger validation system.
