Woman dies in Pathum Thani motorcycle crash near drainage site
A tragic accident occurred yesterday when a woman riding a motorcycle collided with a pile of stones near an open drainage pipe, resulting in her immediate death. Relatives, overwhelmed with grief, clung to her lifeless body, lamenting their loss.
The sickening accident took place at 11pm yesterday, November 4, in Pathum Thani’s Khlong Luang district. Police, including Teerayut Phanphong from Khlong Luang Police Station, arrived at the scene alongside forensic doctors from Thammasat University Hospital, Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers, and Hong Sakuul emergency responders.
At the location, the scene revealed an unfinished drainage pipe with a heap of concrete debris obstructing the entrance. Skid marks indicated the motorcycle’s path before the fatal crash.
Not far from this tragic site lay the body of 45 year old Monrada Phothong, from Chiang Mai. Her Yamaha motorcycle, bearing the registration number 7 ขภ6496 from Bangkok, was found overturned nearby.
Rattanabodin Chookaewcharoenroj, a 29 year old man, recounted that while driving home, he noticed the motorcycle lying in the middle of the road with the injured woman nearby. Although she was still alive at that moment, he immediately contacted emergency services at 1669.
He speculated that she might have swerved to avoid a speed bump and subsequently hit the pile of stones left by the drainage excavation. However, he was uncertain about when the excavation work had started.
A colleague of the deceased mentioned that she had just finished work and was on her way home. Her relatives, stricken with sorrow, embraced her body, repeatedly questioning why she had left them after promising to face challenges together, reported KhaoSod.
Teerayut investigated the accident site, documenting the evidence with photographs. Subsequently, the Ruamkatanyu Foundation was entrusted with transferring the body to Thammasat University Hospital for a thorough forensic examination. The police will coordinate with the family for the body’s release thereafter.
