Tragic Pathum Thani accident claims young womanโs life
A 23 year old woman yesterday lost her life in an accident involving a motorcycle and a truck in Pathum Thani province. Her passenger, a friend, escaped unharmed.
The incident took place around 5pm, yesterday, April 7, at kilometre marker 16 on the road leading to Pathum Thani 2 Bridge in Ban Mai subdistrict, Mueang district.
Police Lieutenant Phongsathorn Laelert of the Investigation Division at Pak Khlong Rangsit Police Station was notified of the accident and responded to the scene along with medical personnel from the Institute of Forensic Science and volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation.
They found the blue Honda Wave motorcycle, registration 1เธเธ 2063 Ang Thong, overturned on top of the deceased, identified as Amphaa Aatkhamphan.
She was wearing a helmet but was fatally struck by the truckโs wheels. Nearby, the truck with registration numbers 82-3628 and 82-3629 Pathum Thani was parked, while a 10-wheel truck, registration 74-2268 Samut Prakan, showed damage to its wheel hub and mudguard.
Panatchet, a 21 year old friend of Amphaa, recounted that they were travelling from Thanya Khlong 6 to Wat Pa Klang Thung, with him as the passenger. He was distracted by his phone and was unaware of the events until the crash occurred.
Tatsana, the 29 year old driver of the 10-wheel truck, stated that he was driving from Khlong 9 towards Bang Bon. He was proceeding normally alongside the truck after passing a traffic light when he noticed the motorcycle had fallen and stopped to investigate.
Nattawut, a 32 year old witness, explained that he was driving an Isuzu, registration 81-9159 Pathum Thani, and was making a U-turn when the motorcycle unexpectedly merged between vehicles. It collided with another vehicle, resulting in the fatal accident with the truck.
The investigation team documented the scene and collected evidence, while Amphaaโs body was transported by Ruamkatanyu Foundation volunteers to the forensic science institute for a detailed examination to assist with the case proceedings, reported KhaoSod.
