Motorcycle accident on Phahonyothin Road leaves one dead

A tragic motorcycle collision claimed the life of a 66 year old mechanic and left two young men in critical condition. The accident occurred yesterday on Phahonyothin Road, near the Thoen bus terminal in Lom Raet, Thoen district, Lampang province.

Police Captain Satean Phanthariyasatean, an investigator from Thoen Police Station, received the report of the accident involving two motorcycles, resulting in injuries and a fatality. The incident took place at a U-turn spot on Phahonyothin Road, heading northward towards Ban Nong Chiang Ran. Medical personnel and rescue teams from Tha Kham Hospital and the Lom Raet Municipality Rescue Unit were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders found the lifeless body of Chan, a 66 year old mechanic who worked at a garage located just 500 metres from the accident site. He was found lying next to his black Honda motorcycle, which was overturned and damaged.

Nearby, a blue Yamaha motorcycle was also found overturned, along with two helmets. The two men involved, aged approximately between 25 and 30 years, had sustained severe injuries and were already transported to Lampang Hospital for emergency treatment, reported KhaoSod.

Preliminary investigations suggest that one of the motorcycles might have been travelling against the traffic flow, leading to a head-on collision. The police plan to review CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact cause of the accident. Chan’s body was sent to the hospital for further examination, after which it will be released to his family for religious rites.

In related news, a tragic accident occurred when a young woman riding her motorcycle against traffic collided with another motorcycle, resulting in the death of the other rider. The incident left the victim’s family grieving at the scene.

At 8am on August 7, Police Lieutenant Kancha Klao Viriyadechawat, an investigator at Cha-am Police Station, received a report of a motorcycle collision on Phetkasem Road, inbound to Bangkok, in the Huay Sai Tai community of Cha-am municipality, Phetchaburi province. Rescue teams from Cha-am Hospital and Sawang Sanphet Rescue Unit rushed to the scene.
