A tragic collision claimed the life of a 49 year old woman when her motorcycle collided head-on with a pickup truck in Chon Buri’s Phan Thong district yesterday evening. The male driver of the truck stated that the woman veered into his lane, making it impossible to avoid the accident due to the narrow two-way street.

The incident occurred at 8pm yesterday, November 6. Police Lieutenant Kitikul Amattarakul, an investigator with Phan Thong Police Station, received a report of the fatal crash on a road within Soi Tesaban 3, in Nong Tamlueng, Phan Thong, Chon Buri. He, along with a rescue team from the Thammarassamee Maneerat Foundation, arrived promptly at the scene.

Upon arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the woman, a resident of Roi Et, with severe head injuries and multiple abrasions across her body. She lay in the middle of the road next to her blue Honda Wave motorbike, which was severely damaged. The opposing vehicle, a bronze Isuzu D-Max pickup truck, registration number ฆญ 4533 Bangkok, was parked at the roadside, with its left front severely damaged.

Panupong, the 35 year old driver of the pickup truck, recounted the events leading to the accident. He was on his way back to collect another delivery job after completing his current one. Driving down the road within the alley, he noticed the motorcycle heading straight towards him, having suddenly crossed into his lane, reported KhaoSod.

“I saw the motorcycle coming but couldn’t swerve away in time because it was a two-way street.”

Following the accident, the police took the necessary steps to transport the deceased to a hospital.

An investigation is underway to gather more details and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Legal procedures will be followed, after which the family will be allowed to retrieve the body for religious rites.
