American injured in Pattaya motorcycle accident
Foreign rider hospitalized after losing balance on city road.

In the early hours of September 13, at 3.36am, the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Unit in Pattaya was alerted to a motorcycle accident on Thappraya Road. A collision between a motorcycle and a streetlight pole had resulted in injuries, prompting the swift dispatch of rescue volunteers to the scene.
Upon arrival, they discovered a red and black Yamaha MT15 motorcycle, registered in Bangkok, overturned in the middle of the road. The rider, an American, aged 42, had apparently lost control and collided with the streetlight pole located on the median.
Mr. Young was found nearby with injuries to his left eye and abrasions on his body. Rescue personnel administered first aid before transporting him to a local hospital for further treatment.

According to The Pattaya News, a 45 year old, rescue volunteer, Boonchin Onthaworn, from the North Pattaya unit, witnessed the incident. He recounted seeing the injured rider as he exited an intersection onto Thappraya Road.
The rider lost control, veered onto the median, and subsequently crashed into the streetlight pole. Boonchin provided immediate assistance to Young following the accident.
In a separate incident highlighting the dangers of reckless riding, a Thai woman tragically died in Pattaya after a British man crashed his electric off-road motorcycle into her motorbike just last month, on August 14.
The victim, 49 year old Churairat Phetraksa, sustained severe head injuries and multiple abrasions. Witnesses reported that the British rider had been performing wheelies before losing control and colliding with Churairat.
Additionally, just a fortnight ago, on August 30, a reckless ride by Middle Eastern tourists on Sukhumvit Road left two seriously injured after a collision between a Yamaha Spark and a Honda CBR 650R. Witnesses reported racing without helmets.
Authorities and safety experts have emphasised that both incidents underline the importance of safe and responsible riding. Motorcyclists are urged to obey traffic rules, avoid stunts on public roads, and always wear protective gear to prevent severe injuries or fatalities.
