At the site, a brown Suzuki Ciaz sedan with the license plate number กท 2579 from Prachuap Khiri Khan was found overturned in the left lane, its wheels pointing skyward. The vehicle was severely damaged, with parts scattered across the scene.

Nearby, the severely injured driver, wearing military attire, was found lying motionless and barely breathing. Despite emergency responders’ efforts to perform CPR for over 10 minutes, the individual, identified as 40 year old Sergeant Major Thanaphat Thammosophon, from Pak Song subdistrict, Patho district, Chumphon, succumbed to his injuries. Thanaphat was stationed at the 2nd Artillery Company, 25th Artillery Battalion, located within the 44th Military Circle, approximately 10 kilometres from the accident site.

The other involved vehicle was a white Toyota four-door pickup truck with the license plate number 3 ขฆ 3188 from Bangkok. The truck’s front end, from the bumper to the windshield, was extensively damaged. Its driver, 47 year old Kriangsak Sitthikan, from Takua Thung district, Phang Nga, was present at the scene.

A third vehicle, a white Hino 10-wheel refrigerated truck with the license plate number 70-1707 from Samut Sakhon, also incurred damage to its metal frame near the fuel tank. Its driver, 56 year old Detphat Phonladej, from Mueang District, Ranong, remained at the site.

Kriangsak, a fertiliser and chemical salesman, recounted the incident:

“I was returning after a business visit in Thasae and was driving in the right lane, about to overtake a truck in the left lane. Suddenly, a sedan from the opposite direction spun out of control, flew over, and collided with my truck. This was the first time I experienced such an event, and I was in shock.”

Detphol, the driver of the refrigerated truck, shared his perspective:

“I was driving normally, neither too fast nor too slow. As the pickup truck was overtaking me, I noticed the sedan from the opposite direction losing control, falling into the road’s central ditch, and hitting the curb. This impact caused the sedan to spin mid-air and crash into the pickup truck before bouncing off and hitting my truck’s side.”

A witness, 60 year old Prasop Netchaibun, from Tha Kham subdistrict, who was riding a motorcycle behind the sedan, confirmed the sequence of events, reported KhaoSod.

“I was on my way to buy some supplies and was driving behind the sedan. I saw it lose control, cross the central ditch, and collide with the oncoming vehicle, leading to the driver’s immediate death.”

Police are conducting a thorough investigation to ascertain the details and causes of this tragic accident, ensuring all facts are accurately documented in their reports.
